Getting started
What's the difference between Creative mode and Pro mode?
Creative mode bakes your LUT, film grain, color grading, logo, and date stamp into the recording live — what you see while shooting is the finished file. Pro mode records a clean, ungraded master in a professional codec (Apple Log, ProRes, etc.), meant to be graded afterward in an editor. Switch between them from the settings panel's Pro tab — it's instant, no need to restart the app.
How do I import my own LUT?
Open the LUTs tab, tap an empty slot (or "Replace Selected LUT" on a filled one), and choose a .cube file from your Files app or iCloud Drive. LUT intensity is adjustable underneath once it's loaded.
Can I save a look so I don't have to redo it every time?
Yes — once you've dialed in a LUT, grain, mist, halation, and color settings you like, tap the + at the top of the settings panel and give it a name. Saved presets appear as a horizontal row you can tap to reload the entire look in one go.
Recording & formats
Why don't I see 4K, ProRes, or 240fps as options?
SA Cam only shows formats your specific iPhone can genuinely record — some codec, resolution, and frame-rate combinations aren't physically supported on every device or every lens. Unsupported options appear grayed out rather than hidden, so you can see what's off the table on your hardware.
The waveform monitor looks different from my exposure — why?
That's intentional. The waveform reads your camera's real, unprocessed exposure — not your Creative-mode grade — so a LUT or highlights adjustment never hides genuine over- or under-exposure from you.
How do I change the aspect ratio or add a custom crop?
Swipe in from the left edge of the viewfinder to open the ratio rail. Custom lets you set both the width-to-height ratio and shift the crop position up or down.
Live streaming
How do I go live?
Open the settings panel's Stream tab, enter your RTMP server URL and stream key (from Vimeo, or wherever you're streaming to), then tap Go Live. A bitrate and frame-rate readout stays on screen for the whole broadcast.
Why is streaming unavailable in Pro mode?
Pro mode records a flat, ungraded profile meant for editing afterward — broadcasting that live would look washed out to anyone watching. Switch to Creative mode to stream.
Widgets & Camera Control
How do I add the Lock Screen widget?
Long-press your Lock Screen, tap Customize, select the Lock Screen, then tap one of the widget slots above the flashlight and camera shortcuts and choose SA Cam's circular widget. That specific circular shape is the one that starts recording instantly on tap — the rectangular and Home Screen versions just open the app.
Does SA Cam support the Camera Control button?
Yes, on iPhone 16 Pro and 17 Pro. The hardware slider controls exposure compensation, and a click starts or stops recording. On these devices, the on-screen exposure dial is hidden automatically since the hardware control replaces it.
Sharing & privacy
Where do my recordings go?
Straight to your Photos library, in a dedicated "SA Cam" album. SA Cam has no server and never uploads your recordings anywhere on its own.
How does location tagging work?
It's off by default. If you turn it on in Settings, your location is written into a recording's own file metadata, the same way a dedicated camera tags GPS onto photos — it's never sent anywhere else.

Troubleshooting
Recording doesn't seem to stop when I tap the button
At high resolutions like 4K, saving a file to disk can take a few seconds after you stop — the on-screen indicator clears immediately, but the file is still finishing in the background. If it's stuck for longer than that, restart the app and let us know what resolution and codec you were using.
Location isn't showing up in my video's metadata
Check that Location Services is enabled system-wide (Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services) and that SA Cam has permission there, in addition to the in-app toggle under Settings → Include Location in Video.
